  •  Quote of the Day

    Fr. Joseph Krupp@Joeinblack (September 18, 2023)
Why oh why do people insist that if you don’t agree with them on something, you are evil or hateful or must change?
    What the heck is this?
I’m wrong everyday about all kinds of things. Other people are wrong sometimes when they talk to or about me.
    This is called life.
My God we need fortitude. We are brittle.

    Mark Brumley@mabrumley (September 18, 2023)
A science book I’m reading says the laws of physics allow this but not that. That talk seems metaphorical. It seems better to say the natures of this thing and that one are such that this but not that can occur. Is that more or less right? Or is it way off?

    Patrick K. Miller@PatrickKMiller_(September 18, 2023)
“There’s no theologically sound reason to attended a megachurch.”

What if you have a child with disabilities and the only church with an ASL translator, wheelchair accessibility, quiet rooms for children with severe autism, and staff committed to serve them… is a megachurch?

The most millennial thing my husband has ever done is tell me we should just buy a new printer instead of figuring out what toner and ink go in our current one…. which we haven’t used in six months because it was out of toner and ink.

The printer is a year old.

    Father Jim Sichko@JimSichko (Sep 20, 2023)
What if you’re in hell, and you’re mad at someone, where do you tell them to go? Asking for a friend……

    John Herreid@HerreidJohn (Sep 20, 2023)
The problem with Catholic Twitter is that you have a bunch of incredibly smart people with like 1k followers and then a handful of guys with the reading comprehension skills of Amelia Bedelia who have 20k followers and suck up all the oxygen

Same ol’ shenanigans. Same folks. Saying basically the same stuff, arguing with the same folks. Again and again. It’s clearer when you step away for a bit. Recommend doing that.

Remember how you loved Him before you went and made it complicated.
Remember the simple trust, the free expression of affection and the ability to quickly forget wounds and failures.
Pray for the grace to remember simple love.

    Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand@FrHilderbrand (September 23, 2023)
I know I’m mufos with a couple of homiletics professors, so I hope they don’t get mad when I say this, but …

Homiletics courses in the US are universally bad.

My homiletics prof had us watch Woody Allen movies. He taught that class for over 30 years.

David M. Eckel@davidomaha (September 24, 2023) My brother died today. I am devastated that he would decline so quickly, and that he is gone. The finality of it, though expected, is still difficult to wrap my head around. In your charity, please pray for his soul.
