Happy Birthday America!

America is celebrating her independence on July 4th; a federal holiday. We know the history so well- European pilgrims came in search of religious freedom and opportunity and hence populated America. This independence day became a federal holiday in 1941. The day is typically filled with parades, gatherings, fun, and fellowship. As followers of Christ, my husband and I customarily celebrate the day with prayer and Biblical declarations over America. Through the years we have had friends join us in this July 4th tradition of prayer and declaration.

So here is what we will do again this July 4th, we will posture our hearts in prayer for every aspect of our nation and remember other nations in prayer too. We will declare God’s Word over America; over her leaders (local, state, and federal),over her people, over her systems, over her culture, and over her impact around the world. For this July 4th Independence Day, we will declare the following scriptures over the United States of America:

For the kingdom is the Lord’s And He rules over the nations (Psalm 22: 28).
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance (Psalm 33:12).
And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation (Acts 17:26).
So that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no one else(1 Kings 8:60).
I will magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the Lord(Ezekiel 38:23).

And of course, we will enjoy some great Texas barbecue with all the fixings as we celebrate living in the greatest country in the world. With an estimated population of 331, 893, 745 million, the most dominant economic and military power in the world, we pray that God bless America on her 247th birthday, with a spiritual awakening and revival as America has never known before. Happy Birthday, America!
